How did we start turning the real thing into the cutesy crap you see at Valentine's Day? What does a real broken heart look like? Blood spurting from the aorta like a fountain -- a tear in the right atrium -- does it explode? Do the valves close down and refuse to function? The pulmonary veins seal shut and deny you any access to blood for your lungs. You stop breathing. Your body wants so badly to just shut down. Emotional and physical pain takes your body over -- is that what heartbreak really is? Or does it really crack just the way that we draw it in the margins of our paper or in breakup notes or in the lower corners of our diaries?

Strega shooed the house elves away, cussing when they continued to come in to check on her. She finally snapped and began shooting spells at them, sending them flying from the room as she yelled after them to prepare food.
